SKITTLES SHOT: 2020 LEXUS LC 500
Lexus’ hunger for the younger demographic has certainly transformed the way we perceive their products. Officially four years since the launch of the conspicuous LC 500, this is one sports coupe that doesn’t compare to the previous generation grocery getting, SC 430.
Serving up a taste of the rainbow with some fresh tech, not much has changed over the course of the four-year production life span. We can rest easy now with the implementation of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility within the 10.3-inch high-def display that keeps us constantly connected. Despite not being equipped on our bright, outlandish Flare Yellow subject, the Adaptive Variable Suspension receives some minor tweaks that should return a more positive experience on the already enjoyable ride quality.
Driving a bright yellow sports car, trouble is bound to follow. With a 471-horsepower, 5.0-liter, V-8 creature sitting in the garage, it’s hard not to go out on a Friday night and bring some life to the snooty streets of an upscale nightlife district. For as much as we wanted to light up the treads like a Meerschaum Pipe, the short-tempered 10-speed automatic that aggressively snaps through its gears was just enough show for the men to hoot and the women to judge. Set to its sportiest of sport modes, the dramatic change of the TFT instrument cluster and heads up display suddenly becomes like a 1980’s arcade came lighting up various of colors as we scamp to 60-mph in just 4.4 seconds.
The thing is, while the LC 500 is loud, dramatic and bright, its intentions is more catered to a relaxed ease of GT driving. Its curvature styling isn’t aggressive, its well-polished and charismatic. The level of fine detail feats the overall presence from its huge 21-inch wheels, recessed door handles, and mirrored infinite taillights. The interiors charm of metal, leather and suede features a luring cabin of comfort and luxury. Even in its most extreme sport plus setting, the graceful chassis enhancement maintains a tranquil stability of sport and comfort with a politely tuned electric steering that wants you to enjoy its engineering enrichment’s.
What makes this coupe special however, its daily functional use. A set of golf clubs can fit in the trunk. A child with sawed off legs can fit in the back. It’s surprisingly easy to park and maneuver around compact areas. And with our multiple attempts using the Eco drive mode, it averaged 13-mpg – we disappointed ourselves and thought we could do much worse.
Now we love ourselves a good GT car, and the LC 500 will happily go the distance without causing fatigue or discomfort through its body contouring seats. But we start to wonder, when does the life of an LC F show us a real party? For now, the taste of this bright yellow skittles shot expresses plenty of life on its own.

These pics are unreal, and I couldn’t help but remember the random who asked you to take his picture with the car. I died when I saw the title to this article. The good ole days! Haha
I guess I’ll do anything for a fan. I could go for a classic Bar1 Skittles Shot right about now…
Agree… those photos are amazing! Very sexy car & just enough yellow to bring the right attention to itself.
I haven’t done a sunset photo in a long time! The yellow seemed to work quite well for it. For as much right attention it brought, I’m thankful it didn’t attract the wrong attention. Ha-ha.
